I am not a connoisseur of fine food. I'm also not a connoisseur of the word "connoisseur," but in this case, it fits.

Anyway, I think a lot of upscale restaurants are just overpriced, snooty and come up with exotic items that are no better than a good pizza. That's why I enjoy the Froo Froo Menu Generator.

Try it out. My menu at Cafe Expensivo included this:

Skinless Panda with Barrel-Aged Polenta
Crock Pot Pony with Scorned Fritter
Minced Kinkajou with Traumatic Chutney
Boiled Leopard with Flambéed Tart
Ground Eagle with Grapefruit Fritter

Throwing away the kids' crafts can feel like trashing memories

That includes my youngest son, Nathan, who will be making his kindergarten debut.) The kindergartners starting school next week, with their anxious smiles and double-knotted shoelaces, will make any size backpack seem big. They’ll spill into classrooms looking like snails hunched under colorful shells. Cooper, then in first grade, educated us about penguins But the backpacks are a must, of course.
